Since 2010, SILMO Academy has set itself the goal of supporting professionals from ophthalmic optics in their approach of excellence by offering workshops and scientific symposia during which they can perfect their knowledge and interact with experts from each field.
In 2018 will be treated the following theme: "VISION and GROWTH (0 to 20 years of age)"

About Silmo Academy
The sciences of vision have progressed a lot in recent years thanks to the numerous research works and innovations made in the materials. This new knowledge has led to significant changes in the methods of correcting vision defects, prescriptions and the development of equipment.
To help all the professionals of the eye in the daily practice of their profession, to give them access to the latest research, the MONDIAL DE L'OPTIQUE welcomes since 2010, SILMO ACADEMY, a place of progress and exchanges, a meeting of reflection of high level for the optical sector-eyewear. This area of knowledge and training offers professionals who want it the information and experience they need today to understand the issues and changes in the sector.
Created in 2010 under the leadership of Guy CHARLOT, SILMO ACADEMY is composed of a Scientific Council, responsible for validating the relevance of the content of the symposia. He is the guarantor of the scientific scope of the conferences

Dr Christophe ORSSAUD - Trained as a neurologist and ophthalmologist, his research interests include visual and oculomotor physiology (including 3D vision), optic neuropathies, oculomotor disorders and ophthalmic, neuro ophthalmological and ophthalmic pediatric "rare diseases".
Bernard Maitenaz – Engineer, optician, inventor and former CEO of ESSILOR. In 1959 he invented progressive glass (Varilux) and then modulated glass in 1972. He headed the Essilor group for more than ten years until his retirement in 1991. He is a member of the Academy of Technology.

Elaine GRISDALE – FBDO FAAO qualified as a dispensing optician in 1985. Between 1989 and 2001 she worked in France, where she was International Professional Relations Manager for Opticianry and Optometry at Essilor liaising with professional bodies, vision scientists and academic institutions worldwide.
In 1998 she was instrumental in creating Varilux University, the first international training centre dedicated to presbyopia and the ageing eye.
